The First-year students of the Cultural Heritage Studies Program at CEU would like to invite you to the upcoming event
“Beyond the Glasshill: Unearth Culture in the Heart of the Pilis Mountains”
on April 23rd, 2016.

Culture and Nature Collide a this one-day event brought to you by the First Year students of the Cultural Heritage Studies Program at CEU on the occasion of Earth Day 2016.
The event will take place at the Fülöp Farm in Pomáz-Nagykovácsi-puszta, where stand the ruins of a medieval church and the glass workshop of the nearby Pilis Cistercian monastery. All in the heart of the Pilis Mountains, one of the six biosphere reserves in Hungary.
Join this unique chance to enter a part of the Pilis Mountains otherwise closed to the public, a protected forest area only kilometers from Budapest. 

Bus transport will be organized from the CEU Residence Center, with a stop in the city center. Registration is not mandatory, but  if you do not register, you might not have a place on the bus. Please, help us organizing the transport and food with filling in this quick form.

PROGRAM

Archaeological Visit
A behind-the-scenes tour of the archaeological excavation. Tours will be provided in Hungarian and English.
10:30am - 11:30 am / 12:30pm - 13:30pm / 15:00pm – 16:00pm 

Interactive Arts and Crafts
Once in the morning, once in the afternoon, kids and adults are welcome to join the arts station to try some old artistic techniques led by artist Aleksander Pantic.
11:00am – 12:00pm / 14:00pm – 15:00pm / Drop-in throughout the day 

Dance with Nature
A unique session for both kids and adults, to enjoy intriguing African rhythms and dances with professional drummers including Ibro Fall and tutor Faisal Mohammed.
11:30am- 12:30pm 

Music in the Air by Kecskés Együttes
Mix historic times with the present: a cultural and musical performance by the Szentendre based group Kecskés Együttes.
14:00pm – 15:00pm

Hiking Tours
English and Hungarian tours of about 45 to 60 minutes with our guides around the site will reveal the unique natural environment and the medieval traces in the landscape.
Morning: 10:30am – 11:30am / 11:30am – 12:30pm; Afternoon: 13:30pm – 14:30pm / 15:30pm – 16:30pm / 16:30pm – 17:30pm 

Treasure Hunt
Follow the clues and answer the questions to get a little surprise at the end. Runs all day 

Local Tastes and Treats
A station of local food and the goat cheese of the farm will enable the hungry visitors to purchase some food. Runs all day 

Glasshill Parchments
Panels displayed at different spots of the site will help unfold the multi-layered story of the site. Runs all day 

Building with straw
An ongoing straw building workshop will be viewable at the renovation of a small house being transformed into a visitor center. The experienced professionals and the exhibited panels will enable the interested visitors to get to know more about this special material and the related techniques. Runs all day
