Vania Buso

Vania gained her BA in History from the University of York, where she grew passionate about the Early Middle Ages and Gender History. She then received her MA in History from Ca' Foscari University of Venice, working on normative texts from the Merovingian period and female sexuality. For her research, she has now moved forward in time and is looking at the role of gender in early medieval legal culture and female legal agency in the periphery of the Carolingian Empire. Her focus is Northern Italy and Bavaria. In approaching the material, Vania is experimenting with database modelling and GIS. Her interests range from the Early Middle Ages and Gender History in general to the philosophy of law and contemporary feminist debates.
