CEU SUN Applications Open

December 9, 2022

Applications for CEU's SUN summer university courses are now open.

This program is designed to help advanced undergrads, graduate students, postdocs, junior faculty, and researchers, as well as professionals, to upgrade their knowledge in a variety of areas in the social sciences and humanities, gain applied skills and build interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral networks. The courses are offered for one or two weeks in June and July on CEU’s Budapest or Vienna campus, and are taught by international teams of scholars and practitioners, using CEU’s state-of-the-art academic resources and facilities.

This year, faculty from the Department of Medieval Studies are contributing to three courses. Tijana Krstic is directing a course on Thinking with Islamicate Manuscripts: Critical Approaches to Historical Methodology, History of Collections, and Digital Tools In Islamic Studies;  József Laszlovszky is directing a course on Movements of Music: Migration, Diaspora and Cultural Heritage, and Gábor Klaniczay directs a course on Magic and Witchcraft: History, Interdisciplinarity, Global Perspectives.

Each of these courses is designed to use a broad range of teaching methods. Faculty members present their topics through lectures and seminars, and facilitate work on the development of participants' research and/or policy agendas through individual tutorials or office hours.
