Katalin Szende Elected Head of Department

On May 19, Professor Katalin Szende was elected Head of Department for the coming two academic years, 2010/11 and 2011/12. Her term of office will commence this September.

Professor Szende, who has been a faculty member of the Department of Medieval Studies for more than ten years, is a specialist of medieval and early modern urban history. She is member of the International Commission for the History of Towns and has recently received a highly prestigious OTKA grant for a group project on the Hungarian Atlas of Historic Towns. She will direct a CEU summer university course on “Lived Space in Past and Present: Challenges in the research and management of townscape and cultural heritage” this June.
